I have found threads all over the internet about my problem, and the solution was to e-mail dell for a recovery file, but I can't seem to get through to Dell to get it. I'm hoping someone here can help.
I have had my XPS Gen 3 system using Windows XP for a long time and have been running with a second Viewsonic 19 inch monitor hooked to the DVI port for years. Suddenly, I believe after an automatic windows update, the Viewsonic monitor won't come out of sleep mode. For a while I could unplug and replug it in which forced it out, but that solution doesn't seem to work anymore. The monitor works fine on my laptop, so I don't think it's the cable or the monitor.
I have read about a program that Dell Support used to send out to people to address this bug, but because I'm out of warranty, I can't e-mail anyone. Does anyone else have a solution? My video card is a Radeon X800 XT
