I have an old Dell Inspiron 580 system I'm giving to my 11 year old for schoolwork and light online games. I'm trying to figure out which CPUs this system will support. I know it "should" support a wide range of i3s and i5s but since the last BIOS update was in 2010, I'm sure there are many it doesn't. Current specs:
Mainboard model - Dell 033FF6 A00
Chipset - H57
BIOS - A07
CPU - i3 530
TIA

Prior to installing the processor, check that you have the latest BIOS version installed.

I went with the i5 760 Lynnfield. Installed latest BIOS version (A07), from 2010 unfortunately.
Thanks for a most excellent response!
