Why doesn't e8400 core 2 duo work for e520 motherboard?

I just bought a e8400 core 2 duo 3GHz 1333Mhz bus speed processor and then found out that it would not work for my e520. The computer would not start when I tried to turn it on. Is it something to do with the motherboard having a low fsb or something? Please help, I just lost £140 otherwise.

Looks like you are out luck if you cannot return it. The e8400 is a 1333 fSB processore. Your system support  is only up to  1066 FSB. Also the bios must be programed to recognize the processor.processors will generally not throttle down. to a lower buss speed, like memory will

If take a few things to make a processor compatable. the limits of the motherbord, the bios, and the chipset.
