Will Windows XP 64 Bit work on a Dell Optiplex 780 SFF or Optiplex 980 SFF?
I was planning on buying either a Dell Optiplex 780 SFF or an Dell Optiplex 980 SFF but I would like to know which one will work with Windows XP 64 Bit.

For Windows XP 64 Bit its best to use the somewhat hidden (old ftp website):
http://ftp.dell.com/Browse_For_Drivers/Desktops/Optiplex/OptiPlex%20780/
http://ftp.dell.com/Browse_For_Drivers/Desktops/Optiplex/OptiPlex%20790/
http://ftp.dell.com/Browse_For_Drivers/Desktops/Optiplex/OptiPlex%20980/
This has the old drivers listed of multiple versions including the XP x64 drivers not mentioned on Drivers and Downloads. The new ftp website is slightly broken at present.

I only installed the following drivers:
Chipset - INTEL_CHIPSET-SOFTWARE-INSTA_A05_R302424
Screen - KK37N_WN_9.14.10.5420_A15
Audio - R258847
Network Connection - INTEL_825XX-GIGABIT-PLATFORM_A06_R290983
Then, I installed the two service packs for Windows XP 64 Bit and Net Framework. It was up and running after that. Hope this helps.

They will, but you may need to find drivers.

I know that I'll eventually need to find drivers but will they have them. I've installed Windows XP 64 Bit on another pc (an HP) and it worked perfectly but they didn't have the audio drivers. :emotion-6:

Drivers certainly exist for most of the devices, including the chipset, but they may not be available for the more esoteric hardware. The only way to find out is to try.
Note that Microsoft is ending support for XP in six weeks.

I need help installing Windows XP 64-Bit on a Dell Optiplex 780 SFF. Which driver do I need? There are 3 different packages listed under Serial ATA → Driver → Windows XP x64. Can I use nLite to add the driver to the iso when if there is no .inf file? Thank you.

I was able to find the correct f664flpy driver for installation.
