Will my Inspiron 531 motherboard fit in a different case?
I have an Inspiron 531 with a 0RY206 motherboard. I wanted to ask if I can put this in any Mid ATX computer case? I've heard that Dell motherboards have a proprietary format and that their mounting screws don't line up to standard cases.

Dell does use custom OEM motherboards and in most cases they will not fit without modifying the case and the rear I/O panel. The front panel connection on the 531 motherboard, from what I can tell looking at the manual, looks similar to standard ATX connections, but there is no documentation on it so it looks like you will be left to figure out what pin is what on your own.
As far as the mounting screws, most cases have several possible screw mounting patterns and maybe you can get some (enough) mounting points for the motherboard.
Also, keep in mind Dell uses a proprietary CPU cooling fan and if you use a non Dell CPU cooler/fan you will always get a "fan failure" notice when you boot up and will have to press F1 to continue with the boot.
