Windows 7 professional 64 bit install on precision 470 the NIC card is not present in the computer management, no internet.
Hello,
I installed as above the 64 bit version of windows 7 professional on my precision 470. All booted up and I thought great it found all the drivers. However upon trying to connect to the Internet I discovered there was no NIC showing up in the computer management section. NO yellow ? mark nothing.
Thought oh it just needs the 64bit version of the nic driver. I could not believe it. The Dell page does not even have drivers listed for operating systems later than 2000. What gives and does anyone know where to get one that will work with it?
Thanks in advance.

I looked, and there are drivers for XP, XP x64 and Linux. Naturally, as this model's product run was over long before the release of Windows 7, there are no Windows 7 drivers listed and you'll have to find them yourself. Fortunately, as the 470 has an Intel onboard NIC, that should be easy: Go to Intel's download site and use their online chipset software identification utility, and it should identify all your Intel hardware and suggest drivers for such if newer versions are available.
If Windows can't find the driver but finds the device, the yellow question mark icon is displayed. I'm wondering why you're not seeing it.

Make sure the Nic is enabled in Bios. Then install the Chipset Drivers.
