Would it work?
Hi, I'm wondering if i should purchase a NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS graphcs card to put into my computer, and I don't know if its compatable with my dell dimension 9100. If anyone could help me in this situation it would be greatly appreciated
Thanks, Billy Manley

I think it would work ok ... i checked out your computer's specs and it has a pciE 16 slot.
That card isn't going to work any miracles ... your CRAZY slow computer will move to only being painfully slow. For as cheap as 8400gs cards are it's worth a shot but the cpu and ram in that model (9100) is so slow it's not worth spending much money to upgrade. You will see some graphic speed increase over the onboard.
$30 with free shipping from newegg is not bad ... $2 more can get you the 512mb version
there are MUCH better cards available but i am assuming you picked the 8400 because of it's affordability.
if you can swing about $50 the nvidia 9400 is a much better card
i didn't know what kind of case your computer has so all the example i listed can be used in both a low profile case and a normal height case. :)
