XPS 420 Ram Upgrade Recommendation. Required to upgrade to 8GB.

Hi There,

I'm Currently having 4gb RAM DDR2 800 MHZ..and it occupied 4 slot. I been doing some reading and it seem below spec is recommended on my PC. What other recommendation of RAMbeside below  in order to be 8GB?

2x2GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC6400 CL4-4-4-12.

I really have my doubts that the ram you list will run at those timings with all 8 gigs in on a 420

considering dells BIOS is going to retard the timmings to what? 6-5-5-20 2t? They will not need the listed 2.1v to run. 

most DDR2 rated 4-4-4-12 @ 1.9-2.2v will run just find 5-5-5-15 @ a OEM motherboards 1.5v-1.6v.

i've been considering getting these:

as the timings match the default Dell RAM. however, i'm concerned about whether four of these sticks would even fit in the cramped tower of the 420.

Why bother going to 8GB of RAM unless you plan on running a 64bit OS?

my 64-bit OS disc from Dell is sitting pretty right on my desk as it awaits my future purchase of 8GB of RAM. 😄

If your ready to go 64 I would do it with the 4 and get a tase of it. You will like it and that way you can make sure the system runs with the 4 gigs and then try with the 8

am using Vista 64 bits.. currently . below are the application am running

VMWARE  2 x - Windows 2003 server , Ubuntu Server. 

am installing SUSE. have to wait till my download finish.  Couldn't find in malaysia. Do you have other recommendation for RAM please ?
