Update

The new power supply to address the XPS 420 High Pitched Noise should be available from the manufacturer before April. Please be patient. Replacing the current power supply will not fix the issue.

It sounds like I have the same issue as well.  There is a piercing screeching noise coming from my power supply the best that I can tell.  I thought it was related to my graphics card, but now I think it is my power supply.  Chris, please add me to the list as well.  Thank you!

Having the same problem.  My 425w supply in my XPS 420 is putting out a high-pitched whine.

Hi All,

I have just registered to express my solidarity with other users being driven insane by the persistent whining emanating from the XPS 420s 425W PSU.  I have had the PSU replaced by an engineer today but the problem persists.  

Contacted Dells Customer Services team in India but they are unaware of the problem. 

I did have a desktop with a GT8800 card and it was very quiet.  Due to other technical issues I had a new desktop dispatched with an upgraded GTX8800 card but this brought the whining PSU with it!

I would be grateful if I could be kept informed of any remedial action to resolve this issue.

I have the same problem with the power supply. The noise coming from the power supply is very irritating.
