XPS 630 owners - should I update to Vista SP1?

Received my 630 last Thursday and system is solid, with everything working well. Got all my software etc installed but noticed Vista home premium has not be updated. I am new to Vista but was curious as to whether I should leave well enough alone or update from the MS site? Thanks.

Yes... you should install SP1

you will have more security and faster file copying among other improvements.

Peace

I'm waiting a bit before installing SP1.  Seems the net is divided.  Some ppl reckon SP1 has increased their performance quite considerably, whereas others have said it completely trashed their OS.  Just do a bit of researching first to get an idea.

If I were you I'd get hold of some imaging sw like Paragon first and take an image of your working OS before you apply SP1.  At least then you won't have to start over again with all your installations if it goes the shape of a pear.

thanx peanut for the update.  i have the rig sittin' on my desk right next to me.  the thrashin' does get a bit annoying.  i just check it up to the sound of POWER!!!

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Well, Mr Scary, install just completed, took about 40 minutes I reckon, although I disappeared for a coffee for a while. Just restarted, had to select sli for the dual 8800GTs and had a quick game of COD4 MP - looked magnificent and played flawlessly every detail at max. Browsed the net for a few minutes, opened a few photos, itunes etc - everything super slick. Only thing thats buggin me about Vista is the almost constant HDD thrashing. I know you can turn off the indexing but when you are right beside the system the grinding is a bit annoying although it does stop. Anyway, sp1 install was flawless. Good luck.

I have had no problems with the update and hope it stays that way.
