XPS 630i, 730, 730x - Questions on upgrading to a retail motherboard
I posted this over on the "XPS Club" forum last week but there is little to no traffic there since Dell does not advertise the existence, so I am reposting it here in hopes of getting an answer.

I know that the XPS 630i, 730 & 730x had been advertised as being able to upgrade to a retail motherboard but there has never been a FAQ put together on doing this on any of these models. At least not that I have been able to find.
Is there such a document? If so could you please get it to us. I do not have current plans to upgrade any of ours just yet but will be doing this down the road, but there are many others that are wanting to do this now and it would be nice to know exactly what may need to be modified as well as what current functionality may be lost and if there is a way to prevent this.
Also if anyone has already done this in the 730/730x please post your experience and what you did. I know that over at my630i.com thay have been doing this for the 630i for some time now and there is alot of good info there but it does not apply to the 730 series.

The QX9650 processor.
Prior to installing the processor, check that the latest BIOS version is installed.

MOBO: Dell 0C113J
Chipset: nVidia MCP51
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9400 @ 2.66 GHz
I can't seem to get an answer from Dell (keep getting bounced back between Tech Support and Sales).
I'm selling the computer to a friend, but he wants me to upgrade to the fastest (best) CPU for gaming. No one at Dell seems to be able to answer the question given the info above....HELP!
I want to upgrade to a faster Dell, but I need to sell this one first..........
