XPS 720 power source
I was wondering if it was capable to replace the power source of an XPS 720 with a generic one. I cannot find my current power source on any of the order sheets, but the one I bought to replace my current is a silent pro M.
If that doesn't work, can anyone recommend the power source to replace that in my computer.
I've been getting the flashing amber light for quite a while, so I suspect its a power source issue.
Any help is appreciated.

No the only supply that will work in a 720 is the Dell 720 powersupply either the 750w or 1kw. You can get them ether on Ebay or from Dell Spare Parts.
Now as to your issue. What other indication are you seeing.
Do you hear the fans spin up? What are the diagnostic light code? Do you hear any beeps?
I would suggest you open the case and remove all the ram all the cards and unplug the power connections on all your drives. Power on the system and note all the indications.

Thank you both.
Sometimes the fans do spin up, as for the other question, I'm not sure.
Not completely tech savy, just trying to get my computer to work.
It'll sometimes turn on, but othertimes it won't.
Sorry for the ignorance, but once again, thank you.
