XPS 8100 general, delivery, delays, hardware questions and discussions
Hello everyone,
I was in the backlog of the XPS 8000 for over a month and finally after three delays cancelled it and just purchased a XPS 8100. It would be nice to post questions and comments about the whole process.
Has anyone ordered one yet?

Well, that's disturbing. I just ordered an 8100 today with the 5770 card in it. I was a bit concerend about the power supply, but all the reviews I had read praised it for its low power profile. Guess I'll find out if it's a problem later this month.

I too ordered the 8100 on January 8th and every Friday I get an e-mail telling me it has been delayed AGAIN! When I called to find out if it is going to be another month? another week? another 2 months??? they always tell me "oh no problem we have a delivery date for next week!" If they would just be honest I wouldn't be so frustrated. Just received another delay this morning for a new delivery date of 3/17/10

My 8100 with i7 860 and GTS 240 has froozen a few times when playing intense games. I updated all the drivers lastnight so hopefully this won't happen again but I am a bit worried that the PSU is being pushed too hard.

Looks like there is STILL a delay with the 8100!

No email from Dell advising me of a delay, even though I signed up for email notifications. Friggn ridiculous.

I ordered mine on 04/03/2010 and it shipped today 18 march, instead of planned 22/03)
