I'm interested in upgrading the memory on my XPS 8700 Special Edition.
Currently it has the stock 24 GB:
Samsung (2 x 4GB) & HYNIX (2 x 8GB)
According to the XPS 8700 specifications document, the memory must be:
DDR3L unbuffered, Non-ECC, quad‑channel DDR3 up to 1600 MHz(4 GB and 8 GB Capacities; 32 GB Max)
The memory I'm interested in installing is:
Crucial Ballistix Tactical BLT4K8G3D1608ET3LX0DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800)240-Pin DDR3 SDRAMUnregistered, Non-ECC, quad‑channel
From what I can tell this memory matches the board requirements and has better CAS Latency.
#1 - Can anyone confirm if this is the proper memory for this board?#2 - Will this provide much better performance (CAS latency of 8 vs 11)?
