XPS 8700, SSD replacement

I want to replace my current SSD Drive (sandisk 256gb) with a

Samsung SM951 256GB M.2 Solid State Drive using the following adaptor

Lycom DT-120, PCIe 3.0 x4 Host Adapter for M.2 NGFF PCIe SSD for desktops.

I have a PCIe slot available

The question is :-

Is my PCIe slot x4  (Lanes) compatible

and secondly, is it bootable??

I have emailed Dell support about 3/4 times over the last two months but they have never

replied to any of my questions. ( Disgusting)  not amused with Dell.

RE: Dell XPS8700 tag D4DKJ32

This is not a dell product.  In general no based on windows  8.1 secure boot.

Drivers will not load and cards will not even register in the slots.

There wont be any bios extensions to make this bootable.

Note: this adapter is only for 'M' key M.2 PCIe SSD such as Samsung XP941 SSD.

Not compatible with a 'B' key M.2 PCIe x2 SSD or 'B' key M.2 SATA SSD.
