XPS 8900 64GB of RAM

Can't really find an exact answer for whether the machine can be upgraded to 64GB of RAM, I currently have 32GB but it's not enough.

Crucial sell Crucial 32GB Kit (16GBx2) DDR4-2133 UDIMM, I realise I would need two of these sets.

Thanks for your help.

Not sure why I need to explain but anyway..... I do architectural visualisation where I need to load huge models, with GB's of textures and proxy objects.

I e-mailed dell direct and spoke to a technical advisor he said it had 4 slots each capable of holding a 16GB sim.

I have ordered the RAM, it will be here early next week so I guess we will know then.

Explain why you need more than 32 GB. Crucial will tell you the max amount of ram.It says 32 is the max.--

  • Maximum memory: 32768MB
  • Slots:4 (2 banks of 2)

*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.

Slightly nervous about it working, but if they guy from Dell says it works (and I have the chat transcript) then it should do.

64GB maximum, DDR4 2133MHz, 4x8GB
Shows this on the Dell USA sales site =

But we can only speak to our Dell OEM 8GB memory sticks, not a retailers memory.
GJDKY 8GB
FN6XK 8GB
4PXGC 8GB
659F8 8GB

If one is doing a lot of  video editing and or rendering, scripted photoshop conversions or running virtual machines for software development, then 64GB is a LUXURY.

Just about everything else can comfortably get by with 8GB or 16GB

'WORKING !!!! Wow my Dell XPS 8900 creativity apps is extremely running much faster now. I might grab another 2 sticks next month.  BTW G-Skill has no casing around the mem sticks and do I leave the G-Skill stickers on or take them both off ?
