Possibly, but you don't have to buy from Dell, even if they do offer it. You can use any WiFi card you want, as long as it uses either the same motherboard connector as the existing card, or fits into one of the other open motherboard slots, and the card supports whatever version of Windows you're using..

You could even buy a USB WiFi dongle that plugs into any USB port on front or back of the PC.

Whichever way you go, you'll have to remove the existing WiFi card, even if you decide on a USB dongle.

According to the specs, this motherboard accepts m.2 cards size 2230 with key A E. Looking on Amazon i stumbled upon this card, it should work correct? Most buyers are XPS 13 owners, i'm assuming these laptops share the same m.2 connector type.

"you'll have to remove the existing WiFi card, even if you decide on a USB dongle."

If I add a dongle or another wifi card, why must the stock wifi be removed?

thanks,

Yes, I had the same issue. No idea why dell is shipping with this useless card in 2016. I just upgraded to a card I bought on Amazon. The new card cost around $20 and took about 5-10 minutes to change out the card. Now I have very fast 5GHz on my 8900.

You can buy a new centrino mini pci 802.11ac with BT 4.0 network card on eBay new for $20 USD shipped.

To get an AC card in an 8900 means buying up into the special edition.

search ebay for "Intel-Wireless-AC-7260-7260HMW-802-11AC-Dual-Band-BT4-0-PCIe-Half-Mini-Wifi-Card"

I have a basic 8900 and mine came with the  DW 1560 + BT4.0 [802.11ac + Bluetooth 4.0, Dual Band 2.4&5 GHz, 2x2. So it does not just come with the 2.4.
