XPS 8900 GTX 960 Updating graphic card

Hello

I have an XPS8900 with a GTX 960 2gb card. I would like to replace it with a better card. I saw in some of the forums that a GTX 1060 is a good option. If this is the case, could someone let me know wich specific GTX1060 to buy? and if the PSU will suppor it? (or probably I need an updated PSU?)

Any suggestion for othe card that could fit better?

Thanks

Any of the GTX 1060s will work and the OEM PSU will work.

Many of the cards have a single 8 pin power connector so if the card does not come with a two six pin to single 8 pin reverse Y connector you'll need to buy one.

I've had excellent results from the MSI gaming series, and here is a review where tech powerup gave the card a 9.8 out of 10 which is pretty good. I'm surprised they have not reviewed more 1060 cards.

I can't seem to post links without the post getting moderated, so replace the DOT with a .

the MSI 1060 Dimensions are the same as the MSI GTX 970 which we have in an 8700 and it fits fine. Snug, but fine.

And to see who has what available, here is decent site that seems to have fairly current pricing listed.

search eBay for this:

"PCIE Dual 6 pin to 8 pin PCIe Video Card POWER CABLE , ORIGINAL ASUS"

or this:

"EVGA Dual 6-Pin Female to 8-Pin Male Cable …- NEW SEALED CABLE"

and you'll see the cable that is needed to combine two 6 pin PCIe power connectors to one 8 pin.

Can you post back after your upgrade and let us know how it works? Seeing more successes helps when we see the occasional hiccup. I have one XPS 8700 with a GTX 760 that will likely be seeing an upgrade and the 1060 looks like a winner for price to performance.

Thank you for your above answers!!!

As soon as I get the 1060 (stock is short) I will post back here for sure
