XPS one 2710 USB 3.0

Hi,

I have a dell XPS one 2710 with an i7 processor which i purchased earlier in this year. I upgraded to windows 8.1 and now my computer does not detect my cell phone. I am not sure if it is because of USB 3.0 compatibility or MTP issues.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and it is USB 3.0. This is driving me nuts as I dont see any error messages when i connect the phone nor do i see any messages in th event log. I also tried running Microsoft hardware diagnosis and no luck either also I have updated my drivers from Dell site.

Please Help !!

Thanks,

There is a thread on XDA stating it is USB Driver issue.

Good day Kelly_Jess, I went out on the Microsoft web site to search for compatibilty on Samsung products. From the looks of it, it's not yet supported by Windows 8.1. I have included the link from Microsoft below, I do hope this helps. Have a good day.

Hi Saul,

If we go by that list than more than 50% of the products that are sold will not be compatible windows 8.1. :) Anyways now the interesting thing... The PC recognizes my phone when connected to the back USB port but it does not work with the side ports.

The side ports are actually functional as it can detect USB 3.0 drives and other USB 2.0 hardware like iPhones etc...

Hence I am not sure whats happening,
