Hello sludge123,

Dave is right, your link is dead.

As to your slow down, I have two XPS 420's, both of them are workhorses for my office and they do need minimal upkeep.

First suggestion would be to clean the inside of the cases, cooling/fan units over the CPU and the RAM sticks.  I am always amazed at the dust that collects inside a case.    Second, do a complete defrag from system tools.  This may take some time, but a defrag from system tools works better than from the regular "tune up" program.  There are defrag progams available on line that several people think are better than the system tool, but I can not verify that.  Third, do a complete virus/spybot scan.

I persoanlly notice that the CPU was working full tilt and the system was slow when I was not doing anything, so I went to task manager to see what was running.  Turned out to be the Dell Tune-Up program, so I deleted it as a program that I did not really care about.  Task manager can give you lots of information.

If these measures do not help, you might need to run the Dell Diagnostic program from F12.  In your case I would run the Hardware diagnostic and full memory diagnostic and see if you get error codes.

Best of luck on your system,

Darrell WV
