Try adjusting the voltage manually for the CPU and Memory.  For the CPU, use the default setting.  And for the RAM, use the mfgr rated voltage.

OK I just ran the OCCT after 1min and 8 sec it says to hot. How can that be I have the h2c cooler and I used artic silver 5?

In OCCT, hit the Orange button and click the Monitoring tab.  Set the max CPU temp to 85, and try it again.  If you still have a problem, perhaps the thermal paste was applied incorrectly, or maybe even too much.

OK hit almost 4 min then to HOT!! I think I put to much paste on it should it be 1 small line down the middle? Do you think this is causing my blue screen also?

If the thermal paste wasn't appllied correctly, it will cause the CPU to get too hot and cause BSODs.  A very thin horizontal line across the CPU is all it needs.

See this Artic Silver Installation Guide for your CPU.

Ok re-applied the as5 and backed down the clock to 3.33 ran OCCT for the full hour and is stable at this point. I still don't understand why I can't oc higher with this H2C cooler when they sell the H2C's that are oc to 3.73 and higher with the same set up? Is the chipset different on the h2c mobo maybe that's the difference. I have a XPS 720 and added the CPU and the cooler. The me know what you think and thanks for all of your help!! Hope this stop's the BSOD!!

I don't know where to manually adjust the voltage in a xps 720 you can't when you adjust the clock speed it automatically adjusts the voltage. will it work to do that in the nvidia control panel? If so how much should I increase the settings? just a minute amount at a time? Sorry for all of the dumb questions I just know anuff to be dangerous. Thanks Again

There is very limited options for overclocking this system If not for the eXtreme version of processores there is almost none really. You can OC using the Nvidia software but it will not stick like a true bios setting.

I would suggest you get a copy of coretemp and monitor the CPU temps with that. The QX6850 is a very finicky chip on this motherboard. Your ram can also play a big part in obtaining the higher clock speeds.

Make sure you are running the latest bios A06. Make sure you have the latest chipset drivers. You can get them from the Nvidia site. IF you do use the Nvidia site driver you must make sure you do not update the NIC as the system board uses a broadcom Nic vice a Nvidia nic. When you run the driver setup it will present you with an option screen on what to update. Just deselect the Nic portion.

OK I am nervous about doing this chipset driver. can you lead me in a straighter direction. This is the nvidia base 680i mobo do I look for software? I was just at the sight and it does not say chipset drivers. I am new at most of this, but I am learning as I go. I have only had a PC for 2 years and my first mark60 score was in the 4000.  Now I am in the upper 16000. Thanks for your patients and your help this is the most helpful forum I have ever joined!

Here is the Vista 32 bit driver link. If you need a different version just go to the main page and select nforce,680i, and then you Operating system

http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_vista_15.23.html

Note in the Release Highlites it list all the componets it will update. You see  the ethernet listed at the top of the list this would be the one you would deselect during the install.
