a few questions about my xps 720

sorry if these question have already been answered i haven't been on this site for quite some time

 

all i wanna know is

 

1) does the xps 720 mobo support PCI Express 2.0 ( im thinking of upgrading to ATI Radeon HD 4870, would this card work on a xps 720 )

2) does the mobo support the q9 (45nm) processors http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-202-IN last time i was on i remember people saying they work besides a few problems has this been fixed

thanks for the reply, shame about the pci express 2.0 :( does anyone know how this will effect the 4870 performance

Short answeres

 

1  No/yes

2 Yes Some

 No the sysetm is not PCI 2.0 Compliant. But 2.0 Cards will run

Yes with Bios A06 a lot of the 45nm chips will work. More issues with the extremes than the non extremes.

Hi there,

 

1) The XPS 720 doesn't support PCI-E 2.0, but the HD 4870 will work fine if installed.

 

2) I'm pretty sure the XPS 720 supports up to a Q9450, but I'm not 100% sure. You'll have to double check that.
