bios update for new CPU

I have a Dell Dimension 8100, & upgraded it to a 2.6 Ghz processer & windows XP Pro.   I can't get a bios upgrade from dell using my service tag. My computer crashes occasionally, blue screen says get Bios upgrade . Dell has no new Bios that the 8100 dimension will accept for XP PRO or A larger CPU

Those error messages are "stock" messages.  If there is no BIOS update available from Dell (and I would seriously doubt that there is considering the age of the 8100) you are out of luck with that since it's a Dell custom BIOS.

The 2003 BIOS  HERE is the only one listed for the 8100.  Dell doesn't even support XP on this machine (no drivers), the latest OS is Windows 2000.

There is a BIOS version XP2 available for the Dimension 8100, that's recommended for systems with Microsoft XP.

See HERE

Thank You. I installed XP2 bios. I  will have to reboot several times to be sure that I don't get the blue screen again, but i will assume this fixed it. I had put A09 in over old xp bios because I was getting blue screen of death about CPU error. My new CPU wasn't in old bios. (2.6Ghz). I have had a harddisk crash, & reinstalled XP3 Pro, earlyer, but forgot the Bios
