bios update version number lower on newer
Hello
I am looking at updating one of my optiplex 960 towers to a precision t3500 tower. When i looked through the driver downloads i saw the bios download for 2013 A17 for 2014 A13.
Why does it go down i thoght they always went upwards. Any concern here ?

I was looking at what the different bios's fixed in the description.You should update to the A17 version.

Dell Precision T3500 System BIOS BIOS 11 Dec 2013
Version: A17 ,A17 Older versions
Notice 2014 has version A13 and 2013 has A17.
Do the numbers like a13 a17 a20 mean anything at all in keeping track of which bios you have?

I guess I the answer is the bios upgrades are not in any order. they can be 6 ,10 ,4 etc . So one cannot just go by revsion number alone. Just having a larger number which one would assume to be newer is not the case. Everything posted only has what is included , nothing addressed the question of why the 2014 revision number if lower than the 2013 number. So my conclusion is it does not matter what the revison number is just the year released ? Is this correct ?

I'd go with the version number, not dates...
Sometimes Dell may modify the flash installer or repost an older version on the servers so it gets a later date than the latest version...
