computer not starting up
my pc turns on but nothing shows up on the screen and it beeps five times then pauses then beeps again i dont know what is going on i had to hook up my other pc just to write this

it has windows xp home edition and i do beleave it is an insperion 530

Assuming that you have an Inspiron 530 Mini Tower, check the 530 Troubleshooter in the link below.
Five 'Beeps' could indicate a possible real time clock failure. Possible battery failure or motherboard failure.
Is the power button LED, Steady Blue, Blinking Blue, Steady Amber, Blinking Amber?
Have you made any changes to the 530 recently?
