I installed a standard aftermarket Socket 478 heatsink in my 2350, similar to the 2400, but lost BIOS fan control and had to install a fan controller. I tried both a Rosewill, and a Zalman 7000 ALCU.

If you're wondering, the 2400 is mATX standard, and the case wiring, apart from the front audio, is compatible with standard headers. As for the front audio, it has the standard leads, and can be rewired to a regular 2x5 Molex plug, which I did with a Dimension 3000 (same chassis).

Meanwhile, the 2400 was designed to work with the heatsink you have, so why is it overheating? Perhaps the mounting bracket has broken and the heatsink is not securely affixed to to the CPU? If you need a new bracket, standard Socket 478 units might work; I replaced the broken bracket in my 2350 with a new generic one sourced from eBay.

Any thermal paste should work. It's cleaning the old stuff off that is difficult.
