hi everyone, i'm new here.
i'm planning to go for the dimension 9100, it comes with a video card 256MB X600, and i'm stil thinking whether i should get a Pentium D 820 or 830. My worries are:
(1) does 820 / 830 and the X600 video card goes well with the monitor 2005FPW? i don't play games but would definitell watch videos on this computer. i would also use the coputer to view 2 word docs at the same time, possibly also playing a small film at the same time. In that case, does the above config works well?
(2) would also like to know (just curious, it probably won't affect my purchase decision) if these config would be HDTV ready. i'm based i Hong Kong.

BTW, in Hong Kong Dell does not bundle the 2005FPW with ANY Dell desktops, which means together they probable costs more.

Many thanks in advance.

It takes a fair bit of power to run high resolutions like 1680x1050. If you're not playing any games it will be fine like wine. If you do plan on any gaming, you will probably have to keep the game settings turned down a fair bit. The 2005FPW will accept HD through a DVI cable from an HD cable box.

YES, i do not play games on this computer. And many thanks for your prompt reply. since you own 2 2005FPW, i now feel confident to go for the 9100 Pentium 820 with the X600 video card.

Just one more question, does it worth going from D820 for D830? (fyi, this wiil cost an extra USD 100).

thanks again.

Glad to be of service.
To answer your question, probably not. There will be very very little difference in performance between the two, especially for the price. I would put that money into more RAM or hard drive space, or something else you might want.
hope that helps!
