first time install usb 3 card...
greetings,
i'm attempting to install (first time since my 386) this usb 3 card:
my system is the dell T3500 precision - less than a year old. this card has a sata power connection and i want to know if my tower has sata connectors for it's pci express slots? also where do i find the particular slot for this card? finally it would be extra cool if i could cable attach my front two usb 2 slots to the single internal usb 3 connector this card supports... or if not how may i best use this internal connection?

i've not done hardware installs in many years so any support, help, information specific to this product/s or clarity would be most welcome.
thanks for this valuable forum.

The T3400 has sata power connections so the T3500 definitely does also. However you may require a SATA power extension to reach the card.

I notice a lot of USB 3.0 and 3.1 PCIe cards are 1x slot (very small) but my Precision T3500 doesn't seem to come with any PCIe 1x slot. Any thoughts on how to go about adding a USB 3.1 card to the T3500? TIA

8x slots will also take 4x, 2x and 1x cards.
If you want maximum performance (especially with USB 3.1), get a PCIe USB card with the largest number of channels you can - 2x (or 4x if you can find it). Note the 8x slots in the T3500 only have 4x wired.
