Up: it's inexpensive and fine for office work.

Down: it's got integrated video and no provision for a fast video card, so don't expect to do any gaming on it.

would it be any better if i were to upgrade things in it?

It's not very upgradeable. Since you're asking about upgrades already, it sounds likely you under-bought. Cancel the order and consider a minimum of a 5150 or an XPS 400 - you likely will not be happy with the economy model 3100.

Unless it has a spare PCI slot available... meaning you can upgrade to a slightly better graphics card... 128mb fx nvidia geforce 5500 ...

other than that though, its just an basic PC doing tasks such as photoshop, office work etc .... good if you like browsing net, doing work on it, homework for younger ones..

but yeh not a hard hitter in the gamings department.

David,

Are you a gamer? If not it's an excellent system (if you are I can't answer you because I'm not). I had a Dimension 3000 and I really enjoyed it. I did a lot of Adobe stuff (Creative Suite) on it and it didn't miss a beat. The main downside is that you can only put in 2GB RAM tops so expect to be having to buy a new PC within a couple of years. What kind of processor did you get? How much RAM?
