max graphic card on XPS 8300
hi ,
I am owning a dell xps 8300 with i7 2600 and GT 420 graphic card. What is the maximum graphic card supported on this motherboard?
It is H67 chipset with dell 0y2mrg motherboard. PCIE 3.0 cards are backward compatible. so can I add a gtx 1070 on it? What it is the maximum power supported by xps 8300? http://www.findlaptopdriver.com/specs-0y2mrg-dell/

Hi I also own an 8300 but mine seems to be an older version however we share the same motherboard and if its anything like mine, your stock psu is 350watts. While this may be technically sufficient for most cards, I reccomend upgrading your psu especially if you aim to upgrade to the higher end of the graphics cards spectrum. With that being said, there have been many reports with NVIDIA cards in 1000 series that work fine, the 1070 is a great card but there may be some issues with space depending on your casing. I offer caution towards AMD cards in the rx series however as many people with our system has experienced problems including me. I currently run a 1050ti on my system and it runs perfectly and runs games great.

The issue with Radeon R series cards is DOS VESA Mode 103. VESA BIOS Extensions (VBE) is a standard that defines the interface that can be used by BIOS to access compliant video boards at high resolutions and bit depths which are limited to resolutions of 800×600 pixels with 4 bit color depth or less. VBE is made available through the video card's BIOS, which installs during boot INT 10.
SVGA normally refers to a resolution of 800x600 pixels. This standard became the Bare Minimum that manufacturers had for a VGA monitor. XGA 1024 x 768 is not guaranteed.
Because of this F2 getting into CMOS BIOS settings is not possible on many older dells.
Sapphire support is very unhelpful on this stating that their cards require Secure Boot UEFI bios to operate.
EVGA has been making DUAL BIOS VIDEO cards for a while now because of this.

I have the XPS8300 with i5-2300 with upgraded RAM 13gb and the mini Zotac 1050ti 4Gb but I keep getting a blue death screen with I startup overnight or after a few hours. Any idea?

Not if last message posted. I have the XPS 8300 i5-2300 with 13gb Ram. I also went with the Zotac 1050ti 4gb and I keep getting blue death screen. I updated the driver and all the old Amd drivers are gone. Any idea?
