precision t3500 udate bios now won't boot

I just got this t3500, worked fine before bios update.  I did the update to a17 and now will not boot all the way.  The machine goes through the led sequence and then stops with 1,2 and 3 lit and gives me 2 beeps, no video and does not continue.  I have tried pulling the connection to the hard drives, dvd-rom, removed the video card, even tried with one stick of 1gb ram that I know is good, still nothing.  Any ideas?

What color is the power button and is it steady or blinking?

Beep codes on the T3500 come in groups of 3, separated by a short time. So are you saying the beep code is 2-2-2? Or do you only get 2 beeps and nothing more?

If it's 2-2-2, the manual says: 1st 64 K RAM chip or data line failure - bit 5

Either way, you can try clearing BIOS:

  1. Power off, unplug
  2. Press/hold power button for ~15 sec
  3. Open case and remove motherboard battery
  4. Press/hold power button for ~30 sec
  5. (Reinstall all PCI cards, RAM, drives etc)
  6. Reinstall battery (right-side-up!)
  7. Close case and boot with only mouse, monitor and keyboard connected

If that doesn't fix it, you've bricked the motherboard and it will have to be replaced. If the system is under warranty, contact Dell Tech Support. Otherwise, you'll have to buy another T3500 motherboard.
