aed7117,

Can you please post the entire error message here?  While this type of problem is often software related, without enough information, it is very difficult to provide any valuable suggestions.

aed7117,

Well, that contained no useful information.  Thank you for posting it, though.  Since we cannot use the error to identify a software problem, then the next route is to try and eliminate a hardware fault.  If you have your Dell Resource CD, boot to it and run the diagnostics on the CD to test the entire system.  Try a quick test first to see if anything pops up.

Ya, I kinda figured it was pretty useless info!! I don't have the disk (bought computer off of a friend). I do however, have everything from my Dell desktop which runs on the same system. Is it possible to use it? If not where can I get one for the laptop? I really appreciate your help. Thanks

aed7117,

You can download diagnostic software for this system from this link:

Just enter the system service tag or the model and you can download all of the drivers, diagnostics and Dell updates for your system.  You may be able to use the Resource CD from your desktop system as well to run diagnostics.  Boot to the CD and find a file called "diag.exe" or "diags.exe" or something similar.  Run the program and test the system.

I just got the same exact error on the same exact laptop.  I can run setup (Press F2 real quick after booting) and all the diags pass.  I think it's the 3rd party hard disk encryption, since I was turning off the pc as this program came up since I wanted to get into setup and wasn't pressing the key fast enough.  Now I think I messed up the disk encryption program and it won't start.  This encryption is part of our Bank's software build so I am stuck with it.
