t5500 power switch failing
I have a 2010 Dell T5500 which has a power problem. When I press the power switch on the front, nothing happens. No beep, no lights, no error codes. It is just like you did not press the button at all. If I continue to hold or repress the button several times, it will start and boot normally.
I have tested the power supply it is seems functional. It will power up with the power supply test button and it will power up by crossing the green and black leads.
All cards and devices work normally.
It seems to me that this is a failing power button.
I have searched and can't find any instructions on replacing the power button on the front bezel.
Anyone have any experience doing this?
Thanks,
Brian

Hi,
Did you try removing the front bezel and try the physical button manually to power up the system
Did you try updating the BIOS , just in case.

Power button seems to be faulty.

The switch is on the front panel board. The button is a plastic part on the front faceplate. You have to lift the lever and slide the faceplate to remove. The control panel with button is held in by a screw.

.As with most Dells there is a proprietary Front Panel Board and 20 pin or more ribbon cable.
