Power comes on and the dell screen starts up. The status bar only goes about an in and stops. The END! I repalced the CMOS battery...didn't help. It won't get to the F2,F12 option, either.
If the system isn't making it past the Dell splash screen then it's not completing POST and booting to the operating system disc probably won't be possible. What sequence do the diagnostic lights display? Those would be the top four media buttons located on the left edge of the LCD. Compare them against the chart here.
Try booting to your Operating System disk and do a repair or reinstall. Include your operating system when you repost in the Laptop section. This is the Desktop section.
