xps 630i won't post
This morning I was using my 2 month old xps630i as usual - and it locked up. I was listening to an internet radio station at the time and the audio locked into a loop - all other programs froze - could not use the mouse. CTRL-ALT-DEL did nothing. System was completely locked up.
Did a hard boot - would not post, single error tone screeching.
Unplugged it, waited 30 minutes, reseated the RAM and tried booting it again - when I plugged in the power cord it suddenly turned on like it was going to boot, same single error tone. Let me reiterate, I did not touch the power button on the front - the machine tried to boot as soon as I plugged in the power cord.
Waited 60 minutes - plugged in power cord - same behaviour: system attempted to boot, same single continuous error tone.
I would like a link to the list of error tones for the 630i.
And any other ideas you may have about what happened to my system.
It is under warrenty.

sync303,
Here <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell> is a link to the 630i beep codes. Try starting the system with all the memory removed to see if you get the appropriate beep code.

Thanks very much!
Turns out it was a bad memory module - a new one is being shipped already.
Kudos to tech support they were very helpful.
