xps 710

I have a xps 710 which shut down has normal.

When switched on the following morning there was no bios boot up on the screen the screen remained in sleep mode. i took the cable(dvi) out of the monitor and it said no dvi cable found when i replaced back in. the message disappeared.

I presume that my graphics card is broke,(gtx6600 i think)

Any ideas please

I would first power off, open the case cover, remove and reseat the video card and it power cabling. Then retest. If still no go, power off, remove the video card, then power on. The diagnostic LED 2/4 should be green, 1/3 white, meaning the system cannot find the video card. Then we could conclude that the system is ok and the video card is indeed defective.

Hi.

Thx for your reply.

I took out the card, gave it a good clean and reseated again, still nothing.

I replaced with another card and worked ok,so i can only presume it is knackered.

Many Thanks

Alan
