xps 9000 VC upgrade Radeon 5450 to ?

I want to upgrade my video card in my XPS 9000 which currently is a ATI Radeon HD 5450 DDR3.

I believe  the Power Supply is 450w, so i guess i will need to upgrade that as well.

So any suggestions for a video card in the $100-$200 that will make a significant difference would be greatly appreciated.

And also a power supply.

Thanks,

M

Your XPS 9000 should have a 475 watt power supply which will be good enough for many video cards.  The HD 5450 is a very low-end card so I am not sure what your purpose is for the upgrade to make a significant difference except in gaming if that's your reason.  If you want a video card for better gaming that would make a significant difference, then go with an HD 6790 or HD 6850.  The HD 6790 would be around $150 and the better HD 6850 would be around $170 and less with the rebates.  Again, there is no reason to waste money upgrading your power supply.   You can even get the HD 5770 for only around $100 that is miles ahead of your HD 5450.   Most video cards are better than this one.  It's almost a crime to match this card up with an i7 CPU.

Some HD 5770s HERE to look at.
