Blue Screen ***STOP: 0x00008086 error...

I presently have a Dimension 8400 that daily is giving me a blue screen that under Technical Information displays the following: ***STOP: 0x00008086 (0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000). The only alternative I have is to push the power button to reboot. After rebooting a message screen displays a path which takes me to Intel website to ChipSet screen. I have download and installed the driver for the chipset, however I am still experiencing the STOP: 0x00008086 blue screens.

Are there any suggestions of fixing this issue?

Boot and run the Dell diagnostics (F12 at startup) on the hard drive (extended test, including surface scan) and memory.

I am having the same problem as trwctw.  The Blue Screen with STOP: error 0x00008086.  I have a new Dimension 8400.  I ran the Dell Diagnostics (F12) at start up and the hard drive passed.  The diagnostics for the CD and DVD drives were not supported.

After having read several messages regarding this error I have gone to the Intel home page and downloaded the file Infinst.zip.  The chipset on my PC is 925X/XE Express Chipset Family.  I have installed the Intel update (Ver 7.0.0.1019 dated 4/18/05) and will report back if the Blue Screen error stops.

By chance did you try the Dell January '05 chipset update before installing the one from Intel?

No I did not because I purchased my computer in March and assumed that was already installed because it is dated January.

Did the Intel chipset driver you downloaded solve your problem?

So far so good.  I have not seen the BSOD stop error since I installed the Intel Chipset update and I have been on the computer all day.  I am not sure that this is enough time though.  If I get the error again I will put a note on the forum.

I spoke too soon.  Just got the BSOD.  I was on the Internet and replacing a CD.
