Caps lock screen icon is reversed

When my CAPS LOCK symbol / icon shows on the screen, I am typing in lower case letters..and when the CAPS LOCK off symbol / icon  shows that it is off on my screen, I am typing in all caps...???  If I restart the computer, it sometimes works normal but soon switches back to the wrong indications... I am using Windows 7 / 64 bit..  and the computer is a Dell 2305....   The keyboard is a Dell wireless keyboard and I tried replacing the batteries to no avail..   Help???
