What is the best video card upgrade u can put on the 4600c? I bought a new game and it says that I have an unsupported video card.

Can you post some more details of your 4600c? I'm assuming its PCI x16, how many watts is your psu? And if you know weather you case will fit cards that take up two slots or one. What is the main intended use for the video card, gamining? What card do you currently have that's not supported? And are you running XP or Vista?

Dell Dimension 4600c
Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz
500 GB HDD
1 GB RAM
It supports only low profile video cards which is half size of regular video cards.
My intended use for the video card is mainly for gaming like counter strike.
I have the stock video card of the 4600c that comes with the computer when u buy it so a Intel 865G.
I am running Windows XP.
I just want to know the best video card u can put on the 4600c and wat website I can buy it.

By the sounds of it you have 4x AGP slot which is the older generation of graphics technology. If you want to game with AGP cards ideally you'll need a 8x slot as anything else won't cut it when it comes to games these days. If you want the best gaming performance I would change to a motherboard that uses a x16 PCI express card interface. However It does says in the technical specs "low-profile AGP video card also supported)—4X and 8X" There are some decent 8X cards around I used a Radeon 9600XT Game Buster which was ok struggled with the latest games i.e. had to play Fear on low detail. I would suggest something like GeForce 7600 GT 256MB, AGP if you want to spend some cash, or a more budget card Geforce 7600 GS, AGP. I wouldn't go any lower than 7000 AGP series for Nivida. Possible Radeon cards could be Radeon X1950 Pro AGP, Radeon X800 AGP. But you'll have to do your research to see which card suits budget and expectations. Here is a pic of 8X AGP slot (pink in color) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:AGP_slot.jpg If looks like that then make you get 8X pin card don't waste your time on 4X pins Look on Toms Hardware for info and reviews on AGP cards.

This thread should give you a lot of answers.

Sorry, but the higher power cards in the above reply are not available in the Low Profile AGP Design .   You might find a X1300 or 7300LE though.  But I think the above linked card is a good balance for your older PC and PSU.  It is still fairly modern with SM 3.0, Pure Video etc.   And 8X AGP is backward compatable to 4X.
