Dell Dimension C521

I have a Dell Dimension C521 With 2 gigs of ram, 160 gig hd, and a ATI Radeon X1300 PRO 256 mb video card. I have been trying to install Windows Vista  Home Premium on my system. I have tried at least 5 times. I have had the technicians do dellconnect which is no help at all. I have even called Microsoft to see if they can help me but they could not. I  ran the windows vista advisor and removed the programs that detected problems with. Is anybody having any problems upgrading to windows vista home premium?

Are loading the full program or a upgrade?.I to have c521 and not sure that it will run vista. At end end of day vista is 64 bit software.I have athon 64 3800 cpu but it seems to only run in 32 bit mode.Dell have also told me on the phone that pc is only 32 bit.I thick this reason the express up grade may never appear. If you do get your pc to run vista you might be surprised. If you run the window upgrade tool you will may find problems. You might have more luck running xp on 286 pc

You have a 64bit capable processor, not OS. You need a 64bit OS which is x64. Dell upgrades for Vista are 32bit which is x86. XP is either x86 or x64.

by fitting faster ram will not make your pc faster.Upgrade video card maybe pointest what see is the weakest link. The reason for vista is clear. Its to stop people useing most anther software. As for 64 bit xp did many people buy it.A 64 bit cpu dose not have run at 64 bit. What is point of vista if you anther software is 32 bit and printers ect have no vista drivers. In past same pc info may came up wrong ie memory that not there. What see is not allways true.Dell seems to run like nasa with new 4004 chip anthers have move on to the 8008

That video card is fine for Vista. Not great, but mid-level at best if not a gamer. As for 64bit, drivers are very hard to find, if at all. That's just how it is, not only Dell but overall.
