Dell OptiPlex 3020 MT Windows 10 Fall Creators Realtek Maxx Audio driver working erratically

Hi my dell OptiPlex 3020MT updated automatically to Fall creators update yesterday everything is working fine expect for the soundcard. It sounds tiny and flat. I downloaded and tried to install official Windows 10 audio driver from dell support but it can't be installed as it is not compatible with latest windows 10 build. I have to rely on windows update and Maxx Volume Pro is not working with driver provided via windows update. MaxxVolume, MaxxLeveler and MaxxBass sounds flat when I try to adjust it manually. All drop down options is empty.. no preset equalizer is available in drop down menu and user defined equalizer does not make any audible sound difference when I try to manually sets it. Also under speaker setup; Speaker size (Small, Medium, Large) does not make any audible sound difference.. it just sounds tiny and flat.

Kindly provide a work around for this issue. At least a compatible audio driver for fall creators update.

I downloaded latest windows 10 pro iso from Microsoft and did a clean install of windows 10 fall creators, download and install drivers from dell support but unfortunately sound driver is not installing and ends with an error. I reformatted my pc with an older version of windows 10 pro and dell audio driver installed without any issue but once it upgraded to fall creators update audio driver broke down again. What should I do as windows update cannot be disable??? I need a little help here.. anyone from dell reading this kindly assist....downgrading to windows 8 or 7 is not an option for me.

Nirmalr7,

Click the link below to install the Intel Chipset Drivers, reboot the computer and then install the audio drivers.

Hi Jesse L,

I did like you said. I clean installed windows 10 Pro (Fall creators Update). Installed Intel Chipset Driver and Intel Management Engine component from link you provided.. then restarted my PC and install sound driver from link you provided but still getting same error. Hey by the way same driver install correctly without any issue with earlier version of windows 10 (i.e.. Anniversary Update and creators update) Issue only happens with latest Windows 10 Pro version "FALL CREATORS UPDATE". Please Assist. See error log below:

Same thing here. Plus every time I reboot - windows is trying to delete the dell folder for this driver, which it cannot do. You have to cancel it a couple times and go on.

Nirmalr7,

If you rollback the latest update will the driver install?

Click the link below to download Support Assist and then choose the option that reads Optimize My System.

Hi Jesse L,

Yes if I rollback to the earlier version of windows 10, i can install the audio driver and get it to work without any problem but windows 10 gets updated automatically by itself and audio driver goes crazy and no way to install the dell original audio driver again without installation stopping with error 1603.. I get the same driver version together with MaxxAudio enhancement installed automatically from windows update in "latest fall creators update" but all MaxxAudio enhancement doesn't work it just sound tinny no matter how I set the audio configuration.

I will try the system optimization when I get home later today. I will let you know if it detects something.

Regards

Hey Nirmalr7,

Click the link below and perform the steps listed to see if the driver will install afterwards.

You receive an "error 1603: A fatal error occurred during installation" error message when you try to install a Windows Installer package

Hi Jesse L,

No the workaround in the link you provided didn't work. What I did for now is I clean installed windows 10 earlier build 15063 Creators update and re installed every driver. MaxxAudio works perfectly and I updated windows but postponed Fall creators update for now. I just hope dell releases an updated audio driver for the fall creators update. Else update gonna screw up with the sound again. Kindly pass this message to whichever department it may concern as it's a compatibility issue with hardware or driver software which has not been updated since early 2016 and as i just looked up on realtek website they still support audio chip ALC3220 with fall creators update it's just that Dell haven't yet released an updated driver

Regards
