Dell Vostro 200 - Hard drive replacement question

Recently had a break in to our store and a few of our computers were thrown around.  One - Vostro 200 E2160 - the hard drive shows possible head crash - drive recognized but won't boot - making really bad sounds during boot process.  The data is not an issue - not much stored locally.  Have found the manual OS installation - http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/document?c=ca&cs=cabsdt1&l=en&s=gen&docid=58E26A65A4388E4FE040AE0AB7E107E3#Issue3 - but will have replace the drive.  Is this a potential problem if it's not identical to what was shipped?  Will try to locate another Seagate 250GB, but again is there anything in the supplied installation CD that wants to identify only the original equipment?  If so is there a recommended procedure?

Thanks in advance.
