Dell XPS 410 Will Not Boot up

My Dell XPS 410 will not turn on and boot up.  When I push the start button the green lights come on on the front, the unit makes a "pulsating buzzing" noise and will not start up.  If I leave the unit off over night or for a day or two it will start up and operate normally. it has done this about 10 times alraedy in a month some days it works and no problems

If I leave the unit off over night or for a day or two it will start up and operate normally.

That could mean overheating – airflow/fan problems?

As explained in the Service Manual click here

First check diagnostic LEDs

If OK then power off, disconnect ALL cables & open up your XPS 410

Then very carefully vacuum internals using only plastic (non-metal) type nozzle/brush

Check there is no restriction or blockage of airflow across inlet/outlet vents

Close up XPS 410 & reconnect cables etc.., if not the problem then run Dell diagnostics, in particular the Fan(s)

Edit: Just noticed you have replied in the Bear42 (August 2009 thread) similar problem  :emotion-18:

Are you also saying Dell diagnostics won't run to completion? Try Symptom Tree > Fans/Overheating
