Dell XPS 435T/9000 continually freezes and requires a power button hard reset. One month old
Dell xps 435t/9000 with i7 and 12 GB ram and AMD radeon 5770 p120a 1gb video card.
Since getting computer about a month ago have multiple daily hard reboots because computer freezes either wtih white screen or blue screen with wthite stipes.
Have tried changing power schemes, uninstalling mcafee virus software, disconnecting USB devices except wireless keyboard and mouse without complete success.
Checked latest drivers and bios and I have these already installyed based on dell website.
Is the video card a problem? or any other ideas.
Thank you in advance

You should always contact Dell Support directly for a problem with a new computer. This is a user to user forum, not Dell Support. You need troubleshooting to determine the problem. Support will probably help you check the hardware and if nothing has failed, help you return to factory settings. Don't make any other changes until you contact Support.

This is my fourth dell computer and your right I should get this problem documented with dell support.
However it has been my experience to always tty to figure out what is wrong yourself.
Dell support needs all the help they can get.

Do you want the replacement video card sent to you or do you want a technician to do the work?
Click my username, click Add as Friend, in the blank area I need the following, then click Send request -
Name:
Email Address:
Shipping address:
Phone number:
PC Service Tag number:
Reason: Radeon HD 5770 graphics card causing freezing/lockup issues. Replacing with the Radeon HD 5870 2XTG4

Thank you Chris for the offer/reply.
I just got new video bios and video card AMD 5770 drivers/software for this problem from Dell technical support and will see if that fixes it. If not may need new video card.
The driver update on 5/2/2010 on Dell website says that it fixes a video corruption problem - which sounds like it could be my problem.
