Dell XPS8300 _Cannot install Intel Sandy Bridge Graphics Driver! Anyone else???

I was just trying to make sure all my drivers were up to date. I noticed that i cannot install one.

Using the Dell XPS 8300 Resource CD, Under MY SYSTEM / Video Drivers, it Identifies that one of my hardware components is Intel Sandy Bridge Graphics Rev: A00.

Extracting files worked - Installation failed.

So, i went to the Dell Drivers page to try that. I downloaded and extracted the driver for the same, Driver R291648. Upon trying to install it I get the error, "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software.

Core I7 2600

8 GB Ram

Installation readme.txt indicates the following:

If you are running a dedicated video card you do not need to update or use this driver and because you have a card in the system the onboard video is disabled and there for not seen by the driver program.

It is a graphics driver and not all sandy bridge boards have the built in video. Bottom line is if you have a separate video card you do not need the driver and it will not show up under Device Manager

It appears Chris M, from Dell, dropped out of the correspondence regarding this locking up issue. I think his last post was on 07/22/11 - almost one month ago. I sent him a PM on 08/08/11, to which, no response.

Wonder if Dell corporate told him to let it go.
