Dimension 5150, video card, Windows 10 compatible?

Hi,

I am looking to upgrade the graphics card inside my Dell Dimension 5150 desktop PC. However I am unsure as to what card to buy, I would like one that is compatible with Windows 10 and that is also compatible with the in-built PSU as well. If I could change the PSU as well so I could get a more powerful graphics card that would help as well, could you point me in the right direction of which one to buy please? Am I correct in understanding that the current PSU in the 5150 is a 305w PSU? I live in the United Kingdom so any websites I am pointed to, to buy such items would need to be able to ship to the United Kingdom.

Many thanks!

Yep I think it's supposed to be a 305w PSU (probably an H305P), the best graphics card is a mystery... could be the GTX 750 ti but usually a 400w PSU is recommended for such a card, so I haven't took the risk.  Also I was looking for a single slot 750ti and one that was small enough so it wouldn't be obstructed but the processor heat sink housing.  Here's a similar question and I read lots of similar discussions about the 5100, 5150, E510, E520 as they are all basically the same machine.

Not much help I know but was just here wishing someone would answer my post :)

Radeon 6450 will work fine with windows 10 in ANY size 5150.

There are 3 sizes.

ANY new Radeon Software Crimson Edition driver set, AMD has published a new page on their driver site announcing that video cards based on the company’s pre-Graphics Core Next architectures have been moved to legacy status. This means that GPUs based on the company’s VLIW5 and VLIW4 architectures – the Evergreen and Northern Islands families – have been retired and will no longer be supported.   15.7.1 is the last WHQL Driver .

The ASUS EAH 6450 SILENT Card Fits in all Dell models that have a PCI-E Slot meaning it does not work with USFF due to no expansion slots. The 6450 has 2 X the number of shaders that the 5450 does.

Check out my thread "Dimension 5000 upgrade with 1Gb Video", any of the silent Radeon 6450 will work, I tried the Sapphire and XFX and decided for the latter due to it's larger heatsink. Windows 10 will recognize the card and automatically install the latest drivers and Catalyst Control Center if connected to the internet.

You can squeeze in a GTX 750 ti with upgraded PSU, which has an extra power cable for graphic cards.

The GPU fan gets in the way so try a silent card.
