GX270 and Dell 2405 Widescreen... HELP!!

Good Afternoon...  I have a current issue that hopefully someone can help.  Hopefully, someone from Dell can step in.

 

I spent over 2 hours on the phone today with Gold support trying to work through an issue of the Optiplex only being able to display 1600x1200 on my NEW 24inch Dell Flat LCD.  The Dell 2405 is supposed to handle 1920x1200, and my Intel video card is supposed to support it, ACCORDING TO DELL.

 

I've downloaded the latest Intel Drivers, loaded the Dell Driver onto my desktop, all to to avail.

 

Very frustrating, especially since before the sale I was told it would work

 

As I said, I spent over 2 hours on this today, with no results.  Maybe someone can make a suggestion on specifically what I need to do at this point.

 

Any advise from anyone would be helpful.  I realize the easy answer is "get a new video card".  Please realize that is so much easier said than done in the government where I had to pull teeth just to get the monitor approved.

 

Very frustrating, but now just looking for answers.
