Installing Windows 8 to an SSD (Dell XPS 8500)

I just purchased a Dell XPS 8500 and installed a Crucial M4 128 GB SSD onto which I want to install Windows 8.  I upgraded to Windows 8 Pro and saved the image onto a USB drive, but when I attempted to do a fresh install onto the SSD, I got the following error message, "The product key entered does not match any of the Windows images available for installation.  Enter a different product key."  I don't see any place to enter the product key that I have from the Windows 8 Pro upgrade and have not been able to determine how to install Windows 8 Pro onto the SSD.   I'd appreciate any advice you can offer.

Can you install without entering a product key? If so, install once and then install over top of the first install, and then activate with the product key.

I've seen a couple threads around the internet about similar issues. IIRC it seems the product key is hardcoded into the system BIOS. I'd suggest you call support about this and ask them how the fresh install process goes.

Windows system images of the original drives are for reinstalling on the same hard drive or on a same sized or larger hard drive. Some suggestions here-- http://windowssecrets.com/top-story/going-smaller-trading-spinning-disks-for-ssds/
