KVM Switch Keeps Hanging my new Dell XPS 435

Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4

Hi Dell Community

I hope that someone has solved this problem and can provide some help.

I have an IOGEAR 2Port USB KVM Switch connected to an old Dell XPS PC running Windows XP and a new Dell Studio XPS 435 running Windows Vista Ultimate 64.

The problem is that when I switch away from the new Windows Vista PC to the old XP PC and then switch back to the new Windows Vista PC I find that the Windows Vista PC has completely hung and has to be hard rebooted. The old XP PC has no problems at all when switching back and forth.

I have heard that Windows Vista PCs can be very sensitive to KVM switches and that something called a ‘Keep Alive’ KVM switch needs to be used. I have looked at a number of these ‘Keep Alive’ KVM switches and they are very expensive + £1000!!

Anyone had any success with the new Dell PCs running Windows Vista Ultimate 64 and using a KVM switch?

Thanks in advance.
